Beer-loving bookworms can now indulge both pleasures with the launch of the UK’s first-ever literature-labelled beer can.
The collaboration between Glasgow-based Drygate Brewing Co and Scottish crime fiction novelist Chris Brookmyre is named Killer Twist and features the first chapter of Brookmyre’s chilling new paperback Fallen Angel on the beer can.
The can design features electric blue type, against a midnight blue backdrop, evoking the 'chilling' atmosphere of the novel, as the minimal aesthetic lets the writing do the talking.
A Killer Twist
Killer Twist is a medium-bodied American IPA, infused with grapefruit. Rob MacKay, Creative and Marketing Director at Drygate commented: “Scotland is famed for its evocative writers and skilled brewers, and we’re proud to be bringing the two together to promote the incredible literary talent that lives in our community. We’re always keen to raise a beer to local creatives and to make the arts more open and accessible; Killer Twist has allowed us to reach new audiences with great beer and gripping tales.”
Chris Brookmyre, Author of Fallen Angel, commented: “It would be fair to say that a lot of Drygate went into the process of writing Fallen Angel, so it seems highly appropriate that this collaborative convergence celebrates both what is on the inside and the outside of the can.”
Killer Twist is the latest release from Drygate’s Convergence concept, an ongoing series of unique small-batch releases which combines creativity in all varieties with the brewing process, celebrating music, art, brewing and beyond.
